If you have mistakenly signed a decertification petition because of misinformation and willful deception about the Union record and platform, you may revoke your signature by contacting US-UNM at
PLEASE BE ADVISED
As the democratically elected bargaining agent for the UNM educational support staff, all employees should be advised that signing a petition that ultimately leads to union decertification will have legal and professional ramifications. Because of a few union busters. . .
Staff will lose their legal right to have their democratically chosen agent (US-UNM) bargain collectively with the University
Employees will be forced to work without the legal and professional protections of a collectively negotiated contract.
Once again staff will have no choice but to accept the terms and conditions of employment as determined by the University.
Every staff employee will be required to negotiate individually and from a position of isolated weakness with their supervisors for wage increases, merit pay, and decent working conditions.
Staff will lose their right to have Union representation during discipline and grievance proceedings.
UNM working families will lose a powerful voice of advocacy in the state legislature.
Staff and their families will lose a powerful labor voice that speaks out for their dignity and economic survival.
US-UNM research shows that the majority of staff employees support collective bargaining at UNM.
Most employees DO NOT want to return to the days when staff typically worked in fear, isolation, and suffered in silence because no one could speak out against workplace injustice like the Union can.
